Mathieu and I made a Dalek! Isn't it pretty? Anyway, I have no idea what I'm doing right now. I just want the week to be over so I can sleep! But today must be thursday and not friday because the universe is evil. And we have a event schedule tomorrow, which is evil...merrr.

I made a tumblr for some reason too. I don't know exactly what to do on there, but I have one now. Once I figure out exactly what to do I will probably be more entertained by it.

Astronomy seems to be the only thing I can write about

I just found an old physics paper that I did for extra credit last year (Mr. Garcia gave 10 extra credit points to anyone who wrote a little 1 page paper about the supernova that happened in M101 last year). I must say, it was a very good paper! It's very short, but in my opinion, it is rather good. In case, by some chance, you would like to read it, here it is:

From Stardust to Stardust by Jacob Block

21 million years ago, a star exploded in the outer regions of a spiral arm in a galaxy called Messier 101, nicknamed the Pinwheel Galaxy. The light from this massive explosion, traveling at exactly 299,792,458 m/s, traveled across trillions of miles of intergalactic space, and a few weeks ago, managed to land in one of the telescopes on a little blue planet in the outer rim of the Orion spur of the Perseus spiral arm of a galaxy called “the Milky Way” by the natives of this little blue planet, which made the native astronomers of this world very happy. The star, more precisely a stellar corpse, was a white dwarf. This particular white dwarf had a companion star, which was about to die, and so that star was becoming a red giant. As it swelled up, the surface of the other star got closer to the white dwarf. It got so close that the gravity from the dense little white dwarf actually started pulling material off the companion onto its surface. It kept doing this until it got to the mass of 1.38 times the mass of the star this little blue planet orbits, named the Sun by its natives. Once it reached that critical mass, the atoms of the material on the surface of the white dwarf started to fuse together in a process called nuclear fusion. Fusion happens in normal stars, but is contained in their cores, but in these cases it is not in the core, it is on the surface. So, it exploded in a type of stellar explosion called a supernova, specifically classified as type 1a. The pressure of the explosion caused the atoms around the star to fuse together, even past the element Iron, which doesn’t like to fuse together on its own, and created all of the elements in the periodic table, from Hydrogen to Uranium. The “ash” of this explosion is called a nebula, in this case a supernova remnant, like the Crab Nebula in the Milky Way. The stuff in the nebula is mostly hydrogen and helium, and as time passes, collapse under gravity into new stars, and new planets with the possibility of new life, all because one star got to massive to contain itself.

My favorite thing about the paper is that I wrote it from the point of view of an objective observer, not a native of earth.

Finally

So, I finally found out exactly why my computer was being such a douchebag with online videos (and videos in general). The fan was broken! Something so simple could cause so much of a problem. Well I'm glad my computer is getting fixed, and I hope it doesn't take too long. I can only live without it for so long...I'm currently using my mom's computer, so I'm not totally computerless, but I'd like to have mine back. I miss it.

A random rant

So I'm just going to rant about an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures right here (Goodbye Sarah Jane, to be exact):

What the fucking hell? Dementia does not set in like that! One episode Sarah Jane is perfectly fine, and the next she's like an 80 year old woman! RUSSELL T DAVIES, THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN!!! STAHP DOING THAT. I hope that at the end of this we find out that this is some sort of alien affect on her because dementia does NOT fucking set in like this. Because the brain just one day obviously is just like, "hey Imma start degrading myself. Enjoy dementia, bitches." That does not happen!! It's a gradual process! DAVIES, LEARN THIS!!!

Too much shit

Basically, right now there is shit going on (way too much of it) within my whole area of friends. One friend is being a dick (a fucking superdick who doesn't give a fuck about what he does to others) and it's affecting another one in a way that is very bad. I just don't get it. How could he do this after he knows what's going on in this other friend's life? I mean I've known he was a dick for a while, but never to this extent. This is a whole new level of dickness. Whenever he is explaining his "rationale" (of which he has none) behind all of this I just want to punch him in the nuts so much because he won't listen to fucking reason. All of this needs to stop before he does something bad that would make the other friend do something even worse...

Posts about nothing

I post those a lot. I don't know why, but I do. So, here's another one!

Today was meh. I had a chem test, which was easy. I didn't really do anything in my other classes. So school was basically school.

Then I got home and it was still not very exciting. But then a box came! Yay! It contained my shirts, which are awesome, a mug, which is a replacement because the one Mathieu got me was ruined, and...something that I just bought because I had money...a sonic pen. From the episode "Partners in Crime" So, yeah...I have that now. I think I have an addiction to these things. Though, this is the first one I've bought myself. All the other ones were given to me. But the sonic pen is pretty cool. It's an actual pen! With a real amount of ink, unlike the sonic screwdriver pen which has a rather small amount of ink.

Yeah...I'm addicted to sonics. Don't judge me. It's better than cocaine....

Confusion

So today I had a conversation with someone who I thought hated me. We used to be really good friends, but then she was just like nope no more friendness for you! We hadn't talked in over a year and a half and suddenly, today, she just chatted me on gmail. We talked about how high school has been and stuff, and about Doctor Who. All in all, it was incredibly awkward. She apparently found me incredibly annoying before, so that's why she stopped talking to me, but apparently today she just decided to again. I wasn't really sure what to do.....it was very weird. But a part of me does want to re-start the friendship because we really did used to be good friends. I'm not sure what to do at this point though...why must people be so confusing???


In other news, weird things happened today. Don't know exactly what.

Not that bad

So, the school finally told us about our new scheduling system for next year. Guess what? It's not that bad! Everyone was overreacting to the fact that the schedule was changing. Contrary to what everyone says, the current schedule isn't perfect. The new schedule isn't perfect either, but in my opinion, it is better than the current one. So, here's basically what it is:

1st period - 8:30-9:40
2nd period - 9:40-10:40
3rd period - 10:40-12:40
Lunch - 12:40-1:10
4th period - 1:10-2:10
5th period - 2:10-3:10

It's a 6 day cycle, so each class meets every other day. Ensembles and PE and stuff meet in the "G and H block" (as Mr. Bachner called it). The 2 hour period is going to be hard to get used to, but it's going to be useful too. It's not like the teacher is just going to be sitting at the front of the room talking at you for 2 hours, there is going to be other things going on. Second period is "community time" which is going to be weird, but it could also be really useful. It's a free you could potentially have everyday. That's going to be nice. It's also going to mean no more event schedules, so that's nice. I'm really glad that we still have real free periods along with community time. If we didn't, that would suck.

There's something funny about this new schedule too. Eli Naragon (the son of one of the teachers here) said that his dad told him that this new schedule bares a striking resemblance to the schedule that this school had before switching to our current 10 day A week/B week cycle we have now. So that's funny.

Also, I'm just going to say how HAPPY I am that I took speech already. 2 hours of speech would suck. Just think of how many table topics you'd have to do...so glad that's over with.

Titles are too mainstream

So, I'm just writing a very short entry because I can. I don't know what about, but I am.

So, today happened. Mondays are never fun in the first place, and I was tired today so it sucked more. I went to bed at a reasonable time, 11, but my dogs started barking at 5:30 and didn't stop so I woke up then. It was really annoying. Then I went to school, which was boring and nothing much happened. Then I came home and my new Doctor Who shirt was here! Yay! It's cool. So, yeah, that's my day. Not very exciting.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, the thing I posted about before and was being vague about was me trying to decide whether or not to ask someone to semi formal. Not like a date, but a friend. I ended up deciding to ask, but it didn't work.

Fun times of Who

So, I got Erika to watch Doctor Who, and guess what? She loves it! I actually wasn't sure whether or not she would, but thankfully she did. She watched a lot of it last night. I went to bed when she got to Dalek (episode 5 I think), and she probably watched more after that, so who knows. I'm really happy to have another friend who watches Doctor Who! If she can get up to season 7 by April, we could be excited for season 7.5 together. It will be nice not to seem too crazy.

Anyway, today was pretty boring. Driver's ed was dull as usual. Though afterwards my dad forgot to get me, so I ended up getting a ride with Aki, which somehow lead to dinner, so that was exciting.

Lol things

Hurray for more vagueness. It's always fun for me when I do that.

So there's something I want to make a post about right now but can't because reasons. It's not a complaint I have or anything bad like that, it's something I may or may not do. But I can't post it because reasons. But, if I do end up doing it I will definitely post about it. This will be interesting...

We'll see what happens I guess.

I've been tired, okay?

So I haven't blogged in a while. Schools back, so I've been really tired and trying to get myself back into the habit of waking up early again. It sucks.

But, speaking of school, I've done really well on 2 tests/quizzes I thought I failed, so yay! Now the only one I have to get back is my Spanish quiz I know I failed (not think I failed, I know I did because I just fuckin' know it).

Outside of school, however, other things are happening. Well, kind of, not really. Jessie and I finally got past season 4 of Doctor Who, and now we're well into season 5, getting close to season 6. Season 6 gets REALLY good, and it's going to suck if Jessie has to wait a long time before getting to see it. You know who else needs to see seasons 5 and 6? Aki. But that's beside the point. But since I don't know what the point is, I'll just say this: aidjkhaslkdjhasdkj. Anyway, most of my life for the past few weeks has consisted of mainly just Doctor Who, which I personally have no problem whatsoever with. I seriously can't wait until April. The new season is going to be INCREDIBLE!! COO (hehe I just made that up) FTW!!! I hope I can get Jessie caught up in time. AND I HOPE AKI CATCHES UP IN TIME (AHEM AKI). I need more friends who watch Doctor Who. Or at least more close friends that do. I have friends who do, aka Emma and Mieke, but no close friends (other than Aki, WHO WILL START COUNTING AS A CLOSE FRIEND WHO WATCHES DOCTOR WHO WHEN SHE GETS CAUGHT UP SO I CAN ACTUALLY SAY THINGS WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT SPOILERS). Anyway, April needs to come sooner. I know I'm going to spend all of spring break re-watching like the whole series leading up to the season 7.5 premiere. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm really excited for that to happen.

I don't know what else to write about, but I feel I should write other things. Oh, I know what to write about!

Guess what internets? I might be going to semi-formal. Why? Because Erika is evil, that's why. Her boyfriend Alex is going to be there, and she wants me to meet him, so she's trying to get me to go. She's even willing to pay for my ticket, that's how much she wants me to go. I'd feel bad if I didn't go, but I really don't want to go. WHAT DO I DO INTERNET? HELP ME DECIDE. I want to meet Alex and stuff, but I don't want to go to a dance. DANCES ARE EVIL. I don't want to dress up. I should just wear jeans and a t-shirt and be a FUCKING REBEL. I may go as far as wearing jeans and a polo, but that's as far as I'd go in the dressing up front. I'd probably wear my Dalek polo just to be awesome. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHY AM I CONSIDERING GOING TO A DANCE AHDSAJKDHASLJDHLASKJDHASKJF> WHAT HAS MY LIFE BECOME?

A female Doctor

No, not a female medical person, a female Doctor Who.

I recently read a few articles from 2009-10 about some rumors of how Catherine Tate or Billie Piper could have potentially been cast as the 11th Doctor instead of Matt Smith. It got me thinking, what could a female Doctor mean for Doctor Who?

What would it mean for the companions? For basically the entire series there have been female companions. And in the modern series the main companions have always been female. I mean there have been male companions, i.e. Rory, Adric, etc., but the main companions, i.e. Rose, Martha, Donna, Amy, etc. have been female. If the Doctor suddenly became female, what would that mean for the companions? And say this new female Doctor goes and visits Rose, what the fuck would happen? And River? River would become a forced lesbian! And I don't think Clara would be so keen on traveling with another girl as clever as herself. I don't think it would work...

But, at the same time, it should happen. If Time Lord regeneration is really as random as they say it is, why does The Doctor always end up a human looking white male in his 20s-50s? It's going to stop becoming believable at some point for me. They need to at least change the gender. A female Doctor would be great. Catherine Tate would have made a WONDERFUL 11th Doctor, as would have Billie Piper, though it would have been awkward if the 11th Doctor went to visit Rose and they looked exactly the same, but still, it would have been cool.

I think at some point, possibly as soon as the 12th or 13th Doctor, they may have to cast a woman. It would show that Doctor Who is willing to be risky, imo, and make those kinds of decisions. But they need to cast this woman incredibly well. After the Doctor being a man for the last 1000 years, when he becomes a she it will take a lot of good acting to show him/her getting used to this.

I hope this happens at one point. It would be awesome.

If you like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and/or Doctor Who, you will love this video. It's basically a hypothetical entry in the Guide about Daleks. This guy did an amazing job with the animations. It looks EXACTLY like the animations from the Hitchhiker's TV show. It's just awesome. Also the voice, This guy sounds so much like Peter Jones it's weird. I love this video. So much.
